About the event
Get into the holiday spirit by creating charming ceramic keepsakes: a Tree Luminary and a whimsical Hand-built Gnome. This two-part workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike, and everything you create will be fully functional and ready to light up your home for the holidays!
What You'll Create:
Ceramic Tree Luminary: You will learn hand-building techniques to form a cone-shaped tree, carving unique holes and patterns to allow light to shine through when a battery-operated candle is placed inside.
Whimsical Gnome: You'll create a charming gnome using slab methods, giving it its own unique personality and hat! This workshop is structured across two sessions to ensure your pieces are completely dry and ready for firing and glazing.
Saturday, November 29th, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Session 1: Building & Shaping - Learn fundamental hand-building techniques to construct and detail both your Tree Luminary and your Gnome. Your pieces will be left with the instructor for the initial bisque firing.
Saturday, December 13th, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Session 2: Glazing & Finishing - Once your pieces are fired, you will return to apply durable underglazes and learn glazing application methods to bring your gnome and luminary to life! Your pieces will then be coated with clear glaze and go into the final glaze firing.
What’s Included:
All materials (clay, glazes, tools)
Two kiln firings (bisque and glaze)
Personalized instruction and guidance over both sessions
